Martin-Baker not only designs and manufactures an integrated ejection seat but can also provide a fully integrated escape system. Martin-Baker is the only manufacturer able to supply and qualify a total escape system package all of which is fully approved to appropriate standards. This range of products includes, but is not limited to: Canopy Jettison Systems, Canopy Fracturing Systems, Interseat Sequence systems, Life Support Systems, Survival Kit Deployment, Life Raft, Life Jacket Automatic Inflation, Life Support Systems.

Canopy Jettison Systems

Martin-Baker offers both ballistic and rocket canopy jettison systems.
Incorporating unlocking and disconnection of the canopy, the rock et canopy jettison system ensures clearance of the escape path in the shortest safe time.
Special to type rocket motors installed on the canopy frame are designed so that their rocket plume is directed away from the crew, thus precluding possible injury.

Canopy Fracturing Systems

Martin-Baker can provide a Miniature Detonating Cord (MDC) fracturing system to enable the ejectee to pass through the shattered canopy.
MDC is lighter and less complex than canopy jettisoning and reduces, even further, the time taken for crew ejection.
Canopy fracturing systems have been successfully integrated with many Martin-Baker installations including the Raytheon T-6a Texan 11, Mirage 2000, Dassault Rafale and SAAb Gripen.

Interseat Sequence Systems

Martin-Baker first developed interseat sequence systems in the early 1970’s for aircraft such as the Tornado, Hawk, Macchi 339 and others including the 4 seat EA6B Prowler.
A full range of options is available for training and combat aircraft to cater for individual or sequenced crew ejection to be initiated from either crew station.
These systems are fully integrated with any canopy jettison system to provide an optimised overall escape sequence.
Interseat Sequence Systems have demonstrated repeatedly their ability to enable the crew to abandon the aircraft in the shortest safe time and are today fitted as standard to all multi-place military aircraft.

Life Support Systems

Martin-Baker can supply and integrate a wide range of seat mounted life support systems incorporating OBOGS, Nuclear Biological Chemical protection, “Combat Edge” and other features to meet customer needs.
Connection between the aircrew member and seat, and seat and aircraft, can be either via customer selected equipment or via a Martin-Baker Personal Equipment Connector (P.E.C.) as used on aircraft such as Tornado, Hawk, Harrier and Typhoon.
These systems also feature fully compatible emergency oxygen systems to maintain the life support function during ejection and descent.

Survival Kit Deployment

The compact, lightweight survival kit automatic deployment unit provides the option for manual deployment or automatic release of the Kit from the harness onto a lanyard four seconds after the seat/occupant separation following parachute deployment.

Life Raft/Life Jacket Automatic Inflation

Martin-Baker offer compact, lightweight automatic inflation units for both life-rafts and life-vests. Inert for normal flight operations, immersion in salt or fresh water results automatically in immediate and complete inflation.
These units are fully qualified and in service worldwide.

Other Equipment

Martin-Baker also offers a range of other specialist devices, such as night vision goggle (NVG) release, tree escape systems, restraint harness quick release fittings, etc. that safeguard the crew member in an emergency.

Seat Stand

Designed for increased stability and for greater equipment access for seat servicing activity.
The stand encompasses features which allow it to be adjusted for height / collapsed for storage / and additional outrigger devices allowing it to be used on-board ship or in extreme support positions. The stand has a base structure and a number of adapter kits to allow tailoring of the stand to customer’s particular needs; each kit can be purchased separately.
The four-wheeled base allows a stable work environment with relatively small footprint, but is rugged enough to transport seats between seat bay and aircraft hangar over surfaced pavements. The Martin-Baker Universal seat stand is targeted for use with all existing marks of ejection seats and will accommodate all future ones, including the Joint Strike Fighter. Specialist adaptations can be provided to support other manufacturer’s equipment, allowing maximum effectiveness of from a single piece of support equipment.

Martin-Baker Digital In-line Timer (DIT)

The Martin-Baker developed Digital In-line Timer (DIT) is a form*/ fit / function electronic replacement for the pyrotechnic delay timers used on various crew escape systems. Designed to operate using existing system actuation means and to deliver existing system operating pressures, this replacement equipment is a truly plug and play replacement.

The electronic design allows for improvements to enable dual actuation means for the thermal battery and triple redundant surface mount technology circuitry. This in turn operates dual redundant squib fire initiation of the output charge, all of which significantly improves system Reliability whilst at the same time increasing Maintainability by increasing service life.
Accuracy is greatly improved, enabling measurement in milliseconds allowing increased scope for further optimisation of crew escape system timings. The range of timings available is between 0.12 and 4.00 seconds.
Martin-Baker, by introduction of this product, has secured for its customers a long-term stable supply of accurate time delays with stable low prices.
Some items will be slightly different in appearance but will fit existing space envelopes.
