Martin Baker Aircraft Company Limited (MBA) has qualified two types of fore and aft facing passenger seat to TSO C127a; one on adaptor beams and the other fixed in standard aircraft track. Both seats are easily installed and removed, reliable and low maintenance. Variants of these seats are currently standard fitment on S-92 Helibus, EC145 & BK117-C2.

In recent years MBA has applied this knowledge and experience to the field of crashworthy seating, developing patented technologies that offer the highest levels of crash energy attenuation performance. This is achieved whilst retaining the key operating parameters of low mass, comfort, affordability and maintainability.

The energy attenuation technology offered by MBA effectively absorbs the energy from heavy or crash landings, reducing the forces transmitted to the occupant to a survivable level as defined by the relevant specification.

MBAs product range of crashworthy seating for both rotorcraft and fixed wing applications now includes crew, passenger, utility, troop, armoured and rotating seats. All seats are certified to FAA/EASA and/or military requirements, supporting the operating requirements of a wide range of customers. All passenger seats have various options including armrests, cover materials and harnesses to suit customer requirements. The fixed track passenger seat was originally designed for the S92 and fits a 16.0” standard aircraft track. These seats can be arranged in many configurations to suit the aircraft application and customer’s requirements. This seat can weigh between 21lb (9.53 kg) and 28lb (12.7 kg) dependant on the user defined options.
